Geocaching: The
Rhinelander area has over 400 geocaches located within a 15
mile radius. The Rhinelander
Chamber of Commerce also sponsors the
Great Northwood's Treasure Hunt.

Golf Courses:
Northwood
Golf Course:
Rhinelander,
This course was cut out of the woods, so there is only one
fairway visible at any one time. The course was rated as the
4th best in the state by the United States Golf Association.
This design includes two signature holes, each featuring
island greens. A new log clubhouse opened in 1988. This is a
18 hole course built in 1989, designed by Don Herfort. The
greens are bent grass and the fairways are bluegrass. The
dress code is shirt and shoes are required. Season is April

Logging Museum: One of Rhinelander's main attractions
with displays of century old logging memorabilia, a
blacksmith shop, cook shanty and bunkhouse, narrow gauge
steam engine, and much more. Bring the kids and come to the
logging museum to see how the name 'lumberjack' came about.
The museum is the oldest and most authentic museum in the
Midwest. A great way to start your Northwood's vacation.

School Museum:
The one-room school was built in the
early 1900's in the Town of Newbolt. The school building has
been restored so that today's children and adults can see
what school was like in the rural areas years ago.

CCC stands for Civilian
Conservation Corps. The museum provides a fascinating
glimpse of the CCC work camp experience by using
photographs, personal memorabilia, uniforms, work tools,
emblems, jewelry, papers, and an actual barracks replica.

Outdoors Display:
The visitor's can see a variety of early
logging equipment, including Thunder Lake's No. 5 narrow
gauge locomotive, President Jack Mylrea's private car,
steam-powered snow snakes used to haul sleds of logs, a turn
table, Big Wheels to haul logs to stream or rails and a road
icier.

Children's Museum located in Eagle River is a dynamic
educational facility based on the idea that children learn
